Cannes Lineup Announced 2012

The 65th Cannes lineup for 2012 was just announced.  Get ready for some serious Brad Pitt/Angelina engagement-level paparazzi porn, as well as Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart (both have films), Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Huppert, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Eva Mendes (with Ryan Gosling, natch; but her role is pretty small), Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey (twice over), Tom Hardy, Shia La Beouf, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, James Gandolfini.  Seriously?  The star potential is SICK, astronomical.  Lainey is going to be going berserk when she wakes up to this shit.  Via Deadline: Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom will open the fest and play in competition. The competition is rife with directors hailing from English-speaking territories. As expected Lee Daniels is in with The Paperboy, Andrew Dominik will be there with Killing Them Softly, John Hillcoat’s Lawless has a berth and so do David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, Jeff Nichols’ Mud and The Angels’s Share from Ken Loach. Walter Salles’ English-language On The Road is locked. The full list of competition films follows:
