The new Prometheus trailer is out. The post title quotes a line from the trailer (seemingly spoken by Charlize Theron) and is perhaps an oblique reference to man as the new dinosaur at service to a new, superior species. Or, is she talking about Ridley Scott's career post-Thelma & Louise? If that is the case, then I guess we should prepare for the worst! What do you think? While the teaser trailer had a glorious thumping madness to it that sent shivers down my spine, the full trailer peels itself away from the Alien references and begins to stand on its own two feet. Very grandiosely put together with some spectacular imagery that takes me back to the pre-CGI days of 1980's sci-fi. Has cinema finally mounted that glaring digital technical hump that haunts most action and science-fiction films today? We'll have to see. Story-wise, it's important to keep things in perspective. The chances of let-down are immense, so I try to temper my excitement with reality. Reboots seldom improve on source material and they're usually only good for one revisit and it's already time to call it quits. What do you think? Along with a king's reign ending with his/her death, Oscar nods for technicals also appear .... inevitable.
